Rapidshare Alternative Of the Week – MediaFire
Before anything else let me send all my good thoughts to Chris our reader who reminded me of MediaFire - thank you very much buddy! So far I used MediaFire a lot of times and this online service feels so familiar that it was almost a shock to discover I didn't mention it here on PCTips3000. Well it's better later than never so here I am - uploading a ~195 MB archive to MediaFire and writing about it! ;)
What's so special about MediaFire? To be honest I don't think there's anything to make it a file upload service out of this world only that it looks and feels great works great and it managed to become really popular - according to its main page "Every month more than 94 million people use MediaFire to send and receive over 572 million files to their friends family fans colleagues and clients." Pretty impressive don't you think?
Without creating an account you can upload files as large as 200 MB. Creating a free account also allows you to "manage update organize and secure uploaded files from any computer" but if you're up for a quick try uploading a file without bothering with that account creation process is the smartest thing to do although creating an account takes less than a minute.
The list of features offered by MediaFire is quite impressive starting with unlimited storage space for all accounts direct/hot linking even email/Twitter/Facebook sharing... and this is only a small part of the big picture! For me upload speed is excellent download speed is just the same not to mention how much I love the ease of downloads from MediaFire compared to many other RapidShare alternatives - no silly countdowns or captchas just some ads. Pure awesomeness I tell you pure awesomeness!!! ;)
