How to Hide and Restrict Access to C: Drive to Protect It from Unauthorized Access and Virus Attacks in Windows 7?

If you are continuously connected to the Internet either at your homes or in your offices you are always vulnerable to virus attacks or any unauthorized access. However you can negate this loophole by hiding C: Drive which will prevent your computer from any unauthorized access and will also protect it from malicious and/or harmful virus attacks.

You can hide C: Drive by following the below given steps:

1. Click on Start button.
2. At the bottom of the start menu in the search box type gpedit.msc.
3. In the Local Computer Policy snap-in under User Configuration expand Administrative Templates.
4. Expand Windows Components and select Windows Explorer.
5. In the right pane double-click on Hide these specified drives in My Computer.
6. In the opened box select Enabled radio button and under Options frame from the drop-down list choose Restrict C drive only.
7. Click on Ok button to accept and confirm your selection.
8. Then double-click on Prevent access to drives from My Computer.

10. From the opened box select Enabled radio button and under Options frame from the drop-down list select Restrict C drive only.
11. Click on Ok button to accept and confirm your selection.
12. Close Local Computer Policy snap-in.
13. Click on Start button and go to All Programs.
14. From the list select Accessories.
15. Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
16. In the User Account Control dialog box click Ok button to allow Windows to use your administrative credentials to run the program.
17. In the Administrator: Command Prompt window type gpupdate /force (without quotes) and press enter key.

You can verify this configuration by going to My Computer. You will find that there is no C: available. Even if you want to open this drive by typing C: in the address bar of Windows Explorer you will be displayed with a message saying access denied.
