Disable BitComet Popular Software Updates in Windows 7
Every application that is installed on Microsoft based operating system is by default configured to check for regular updates automatically. Same is the case with BitComet which is a torrent client application and is also configured to check for popular software updates on a regular basis and by default its time interval is every month. This means that every month the application will search for popular software updates on the Internet and if any of them is found it will automatically download and install them with users’ consent of course. For home users this configuration can be left intact as it does not harm much because of the Internet bandwidth speed which is available nowadays. However for the users who still use slow bandwidth Internet connection for example telephone modem they can disable this feature so that they can eliminate consumption of extra bandwidth which is required by the feature when it is enabled. As a BitComet user in Windows 7 if you want to do so you are required to follow the steps given below:
-
Logon to Windows 7 computer on which BitComet is installed and to open its interface double click on its icon available on the desktop.
-
Go to Tools menu and from the list click on Options option.
-
From the left pane on the opened box click on Service and from the right pane under Software Update section uncheck Check for popular software updatescheckbox.
-
Finally click on Ok button to save the changes that you have made.
